2017 Canadian Plowing Champions Crowned in Bruce County Hunter Chown from Wolfe Island Ontario- Canadian Junior Champion. Eric Ferguson from Sunderland Ontario- Canadian Conventional Champion. Francis Sache from Rosedale British Columbia- Canadian Reversible Champion.

The 2017 Canadian Plowing Championship was held in Bruce County!
The event was be held north of Walkerton from Tuesday, August 29 to Saturday, September 2.
We celebrated the 150th anniversary of Canada and Bruce County as we hosted champion plowmen from provinces across Canada as they competed for the National Championship. The 2 Champion Senior competitors; Eric Ferguson (Ontario) in conventional and Francis Sache (British Columbia) in reversible plowing will represent Canada at the 2018 World Contest in Germany. The annual Bruce County Match & BBQ was be held in conjunction with the Canadian Championship on Friday Sept 1.
Tom Evans of Tiverton became the first competitor from Bruce County to compete in the World Ploughing Championship, this past December in Kenya. He shipped his plow by boat in advance of the contest where he placed 8th in the reversible category. In doing so, he placed 2nd in the grassland competition, earning a silver medal. He is the first Canadian since 1976 to win a medal for his country.
The 2018 Bruce County Plowing Match will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 on the farm of Ross Trask, east of Sauble Beach on County Road 8.
